Xiaomi Launched New Smartphone Series: CC Series
Xiamoi’s co-founder, Lei Jun unveiled that a new series of smartphones will be launched in China. CEO of Xiaomi today launched a new smartphone series called CC series. The meaning of the CC series is Colorful & Creative and is developed by the Chic & Cool 90 team. The announcement only involved the launch of a new smartphone series from Xiaomi. No smartphones were actually launched at the event. You will just have to wait for the official launch date of CC9, the first ever flip-camera smartphone from the company.
The number 9 in the CC9 stands for the nine-year of completion of the company. It is the second time that the company has altered the name to celebrate the birthday. Earlier, the company skipped the Mi 7 and directly launched Xiaomi Mi 8 flagship last year. After Redmi and Mi, Xiaomi CC smartphones will be the third subbrand or series from the company. The company promises that the CC series will be a different smartphone series from the other two. The smartphones are designed by the art students at focused on young fashion trendsetters that “want to define themselves”.
At the launch event, Lei Jun stated that “young people have the desire to be seen and heard, they love to take photos and share their beauty with everyone. The new phone will have a new aesthetics concept of “Xiaomi X Meitu AI Aesthetics Lab”, combining advanced camera hardware and beauty technology.”
Lei Jun was teasing the launch event of the new smartphone series on Xiaomi’s official page on Weibo. Xiaomi is expected to launch its new smartphone series with Meitu’s hardware in it. The official page of Meitu also shared Xiaomi’s launch post on Weibo.
In a post on Weibo, Xiaomi posted a few days ago that it will unveil a new series of smartphones. This post was viral by the Xiaomi executives including Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi. The official page of Meitu hardware also shared the post which clearly indicates that the new series of Xiaomi will surely have a collaboration with Meitu. Xiaomi had acquired Meitu’s hardware team in November last year.
The specifications of the device are not out yet but the rumors and leaks have started to flow in. The rumors suggest that the Mi CC9 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor similar to the Redmi K20 while the Mi CC9e will come with Snapdragon 730 processor. As the trend of the front camera has changed to pop-up and flip-cameras, the Mi CC9 will feature a motorized flip camera just like the Asus 6Z. The flip camera of the smartphone is expected to have a 48MP primary sensor, an ultra-wide-angle camera, and a telephoto camera.
Mi CC9 is expected to have an in-display fingerprint sensor powered with 4,000mAh battery and 27W fast charging support. On the other hand, Mi CC9e is expected to have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. If rumors are to be believed then Mi CC9e will come in only one variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage for CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs.16,000). The Mi CC9 is said to come in three storage variants — 6GB + 128GB for CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,100), 8GB + 128GB for CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 28,100), and 8GB + 256GB for CNY 3,099 (roughly Rs. 31,100).
