Xiaomi India Teases Smartphone Launch with Snapdragon 700 Series SoC

By  |

It looks like the competition between Realme and Xiaomi has picked up the pace. Realme launched the Realme 3 Pro just a few days back in India and the smartphone comes with Snapdragon 710 SoC. However, today Xiaomi has teased that they are not far behind either. Xiaomi’s Managing Direct in India Manu Kumar Jain teased that a new Xiaomi smartphone will launch in India with a Snapdragon processor that launched ‘just two weeks ago’.

Qualcomm launched their new generation mid-range SoCs earlier this month. The Snapdragon 665, Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G are the three SoCs of which Manu is probably talking about. In his tweet, Manu has mentioned that,

“A new phone with lateJst #Snapdragon 7_ _ (announced just 2 weeks ago) is coming to India very soon!”

So, the Snapdragon 665 is definitely not coming with the upcoming phone. It could be either coming with  Snapdragon 730 or Snapdragon 730G. Among these two, the Snapdragon 730G is a gaming-centric SoC. Recently, the Samsung Galaxy A80 launched with the Snapdragon 730G. However, it is yet to arrive in India. Given that Realme 3 Pro launched with Snapdragon 710, Xiaomi could actually go with the 730G in its next smartphone.

Xiaomi A3

Last year, during the month of July, Xiaomi came up with the Mi A2. Considering, these ongoing rumors the phone which Manu Kumar Jain is teasing about could well be the Mi A3. The Mi A3 will be the successor of Mi A2. During the rollout of MIUI 10 in January, a line of code showed us the developments regarding the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite.

Both the Mi A3 and Mi A3 lite will probably come with stock Android 9 Pie, running on Google’s Android One programme. As per a few leaks, there could also be in display fingerprint scanner. Moreover, the smartphones might also have the same 32 MP front-facing camera that the Redmi Y3 has. As mentioned earlier, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Y3 with 32 MP selfie shooter and Redmi 7 budget phone just a few days back in India.

So, what do you think about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone with Snapdragon 700 series SoC? Do you think it could be the Mi A3 and could it beat Realme 3 Pro in terms of Pricing? Let us know in the comments below.
