WhatsApp has updated a new version of it’s Android beta app 2.19.83 and new authentication feature were spotted in the giant messaging App. It is seen that Whatsapp has been working on this new feature since long time. The latest update has shown great progress in the App and we are sure users are going to love it.

WhatsApp Fingerprint Authentication Feature

Beta tracker WABetaInfo has shared few screen shots which shows how the Authentication feature can be enabled in the settings of the App. Also they have shared how the interface will look like in the future release. This feature will unfortunately not work for beta users as it has been disabled by default at the moment and it also remains unclear when WhatsApp plans to roll it out to the users.

It is said that the Authentication feature will let WhatsApp users to lock their account and users will be able to unlock it using a fingerprint sensor. You need to enable this feature in Settings >Account >Privacy > Use Fingerprint to Unlock. Once you have enabled this new feature, WhatsApp will register your fingerprint and then it will ask you if you want to App to get locked immediately after you exit the App or want to lock it after 1 minute/ 10 mins or 30 minutes. You can choose from any of the options.

WhatsApp will give an error if the App is not unlocked after trying multiple times. WhatsApp will give a signal that user need to unlock the app using fingerprint authentication every time they try to open the app.

Also not that this feature is not yet available so you will not see it even in the latest beta version of Whatsapp 2.19.83. Probably this feature should rollout for beta users in it’s next update. iPhone users already have this feature in it’s stable version of WhatApp for iOS. Apart from this, iOS users also have option to unlock WhatsApp with Face id enabled.

Also it is in the news that WhatsApp is working on Dark mode. This feature was spotted in the recent beta updates. But still no one is sure when this feature will roll out in stable version of WhatsApp.
