Vivo Y17 Launched in India: Price and Specifications

It looks like the smartphone war in the lower midrange category is not going to stop, at least for now. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 just a few days back. Realme also came up with the Realme 3 Pro in India a week back. Moreover, Xiaomi is planning to launch another mid-range smartphone in India with Snapdragon 700 series SoC. And now, Vivo has launched its offering, the Vivo Y17 in India.

The Vivo Y17 comes with a 6.5-inch waterdrop like notch, triple rear cameras, and 5000 mAh battery. Vivo has used the MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core SoC in the device. The Chinese have added Ultra Gaming mode and Dual Turbo mode for better frame rates and fewer frame drops. However, only time will tell how these software modifications help in real life scenarios.

To start off, the smartphone comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ (720×1544 pixels) display. Considering the price segment of the device, Vivo could have actually used Full HD+ resolution. Anyways, the display comes with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and waterdrop like notch.

The Vivo Y17 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core SoC along with 4 GB of RAM. Other than that, there is 128 GB of inbuilt storage. Vivo has used a 5000 mAh battery to run the smartphone. There is also support for Dual Engine fast charging.

Coming to the camera part, Vivo has put a triple rear camera setup on the back of the device. The primary camera has a 13 MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. There is also an ultra wide angle lens with 8 MP sensor and f/2.2 aperture. Finally, there is an f/2.4 2 MP depth sensor. In the front, Vivo has put a 20 MP camera along with AI face beauty, portrait mode, and other junks.

In terms of ports, there’s a 3.5 mm headphone jack and way old Micro-USB 2.0 port. The phone, however, supports Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi AC standards.

The Vivo Y17 will be available in two colors,  Mineral Blue and Mystic Purple. The smartphone will sell for a price of ₹17,990 in India via Paytm, Amazon, Flipkart, Vivo e-store, and offline retailers.
