RCS android messages

Since 1992, we’ve been using SMS services in various devices. This is a technology that has evolved in such a long time. But. it has some drawbacks like word limit and not accessible through the internet. To overcome this technology, RCS was proposed in 2007 and aims to replace SMS. Now it seems that it finally begins to take its first global steps.

RCS – Rich Communications Services

Recently, all the US mobile operators are officially announced to replace SMS with the RCS in 2020. RCS messages are more intuitive and don’t have any word limit. They are more similar to what we send from WhatsApp, with group chats, video, and audio messages.

Google is one who predicts the future of text messages and has plans for RCS beyond advanced messaging. In the latest beta version of Google Messages, users are already using RCS messages. If you want to enjoy RCS messages, there is a trick that allows you to activate the feature with any operator.

How to activate the RCS protocol in Google Messages

If you want to send the RCS feature in Google Messages, just follow these steps:

Things To Download:

Google Messages updated to the latest beta version.
Activity Launcher installed on our device.

Procedure:

  • Open Activity Launcher
  • Tap on ‘Recent activities‘ and select ‘All activities
  • Search for messages.
  • Tap on its icon and search for ‘Set RCS Flags’ (com.google.android.apps.messaging.ui.appsettings.rcs.overrides.OverrideFlagsActivity).
  • Tap on ‘ACS Url’ and select ‘http://rcs-acs-prod-us.sandbox.google.com/‘ and tap on ‘Apply’.
  • Open the Messages application and the pop-up window that appears will follow the steps to update. It may take a few minutes to appear. If it doesn’t work, keep reading.
  • It deletes the data of ‘Carrier Services’ and forces the closure of ‘Messages’.
  • Repeat steps 1-4. 9 In ‘OTP Pattern’ select ‘Your\sMessenger\sverification\scode\sis\sG-(\d{6}).‘.

Now, Google messages have become an alternative to WhatsApp or Telegram. To be sure, RCS has one big disadvantage. It does not support end-to-end encryption, so it cannot be used to send confidential information. Telephone companies are working to deliver this new standardized RCS through the Cross Carrier Messaging Initiative (CCMI). These services will appear for the first time on Android phones in 2020.
