Android Q Beta 4 Released for Pixel Users

Android 10 also known as Android Q is going to be the upcoming version of the Android Operating system. This version is currently in the testing phase. Android Q beta versions are available to users for testing. The latest version of Android Q Beta which is Beta 4 is being rolled out by Google to the Pixel users. Android Q Beta 4 brings final developer APIs and many other things for testing.

The latest update of the beta version is rolling out to selected devices via OTA and the download links are available on the website. The latest Android Q Beta 4 update consists of the latest Android Q system images for Pixel devices and Android Emulator, along with the final Android Q developer APIs (API level 29), the official API 29 SDK, and updated build tools for Android Studio. All these tools will help the developers to start developing apps that can be compatible with Android Q and the features of Android Q APIs.


Android Q Beta 4 Features:

The notifications can be removed from the screen by swiping in any direction. Earlier Android only allowed swiping in only one direction. As mentioned above, the latest update brings final Android Q developer APIs (API level 29), the official API 29 SDK, and updated build tools for Android Studio. All of these allow developers to test and build their apps for Android Q. Google has also released a guide on Android Q APIs for developers to get started.

At Google I/O, the company already teased with some interesting features of Android Q like the dark theme mode, Dynamic  System Updates(DSU) and many others. According to Google, the DSU feature has been enabled only on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a devices. On its website, Google has shown a complete description of how to enable DSU. The users can return back to the older version simply by restarting their phones.

Eligible Devices and How to Download Android Q Beta 4:

Currently, Android Q Beta 4 is only eligible for Pixel smartphones. All the Pixel devices right from the first generation up to the latest Pixel 3a device will be getting the beta updates. To enroll for the Android Q Beta Programme and receive OTA update with the new Android Q Beta build. OTA files and system image links are also available. There are also other devices from 13 different brands which are expected to get those updates. The expected devices are Asus ZenFone 5Z, Essential Phone, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, LG G8 ThinQ, Nokia 8.1, OnePlus 6T, Oppo Reno, Realme 3 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ3, Tecno Spark 3 Pro, Vivo X27, Vivo Nex A, Vivo Nex S, Xiaomi Mi 9, and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G.

This is just a beta version, not the actual version. This beta release includes lots of bugs and errors. It has issues related to breaking of PiP mode for YouTube when gestures are enabled, broken metadata on videos in Google Photos, and incompatibility with several finance and banking apps.
